Air conditioning service – what we do
We handle both refrigerant types: the older R134a and the newer R1234yf used in newer cars.
- Air conditioning rechargeUsing a service machine we recover the old refrigerant and check how much was in the system. Then we pull a vacuum – this shows whether the system is leak-tight and removes moisture. Finally we fill exactly the amount of refrigerant and oil specified by the car manufacturer.
- Leak detectionLosing refrigerant every season means there is a leak. We find and fix it instead of topping up refrigerant every year.
- Disinfection and anti-fungal treatmentAn unpleasant smell from the vents usually means fungi and bacteria on the evaporator. We disinfect the system and replace the cabin filter, which matters especially for allergy sufferers.
- Air conditioning repairReplacement and repair of hoses, dryer, valves, evaporator and condenser. We also diagnose electrical faults – pressure sensors, compressor clutch, fan.
- Compressor and system flushingWe repair and rebuild compressors. After a compressor failure we flush the whole system so metal particles don't destroy the new part.

How often should air conditioning be serviced?
It is good to check the air conditioning once a year, ideally in spring before the hot weather. The system naturally loses some refrigerant, and with it the oil that lubricates the compressor. Neglected air conditioning cools less and less, and eventually the compressor can seize – a much more expensive repair than a regular service. It is also worth using the air conditioning in winter, as it dries the air and stops the windows fogging up.
